The Citizen Security Secretariat of Mexico City reported on Thursday in its official account about an exchange of gunfire in the Cuauhtémoc borough.
According to the preliminary report, the events highlight that intelligence and investigation personnel were conducting an operation to combat the crime of extortion on Río Ebro Street, in the Juárez neighborhood.
During the operation, a subject fired shots at the authorities, "so, seeing their lives at risk, the officers repelled the aggression."
"As a result of the ongoing actions in the area, four people have been detained and will be presented to the ministerial authorities, while an officer who was injured is being taken to a hospital." Pablo Vázquez Camacho, head of the SSC CDMX, added: "Operational actions in the area continue."
